Due to the wide input voltage range of the LTC3780 module, the design is a good base to use this DC Buck Boost converter for a lot of applications.

The LTC®3780 is a high performance buck-boost switching regulator controller that operates from input voltages which are above, below or equal to the output voltage.

  • Vin : 4V to 36V Operation
  • Vout : 0.8V < VOUT < 30V

As an example:

  • Vin can be 4V the Vout can between 0.8V < VOUT < 30V

I used this module to charge a single LTO cell at 2.4V and 10A. The input voltage was 12V. This high current application is on possible with the use of a external heatsink. The two mosfets under the integrated black heatsinks must have additionaly cooling. Some versions of the module are sold with no heatsinks on this Mosfets, this is highly critical due to overheat of this mosfets.
