Development tool KiCAD
I want to use KiCad for schematic and PCB design. My decision are based the following fact:
- widely used in the community of electronics for small and complex PCB's
- licensed under GPL Version 3
- a huge database of symbols and footprints
- very power full schematic entry
- no restrictions on PCB desgin (unlimited Layers and Components)
- some Signal Integrity features like (diffpair, length matching)
- very good GUI for PCB and schematic entry
Currently i'm working with Cadence, which is a professional EDA system but the KiCAD hase a lot of functions which are available inside such a professional EDA System. When you are comming from a System like Mentor, OrCAD or ther EDA tools its very easy to learn the KiCad world.
